Monday Public Service Announcement

Attention, readers/musicians in the New York City area!

A friend of mine is moving to Florida, and he has no room in his new place for his beloved -- and practically never used -- Yamaha hardwood electronic keyboard.

He's letting it go for $1000.00 (Cheap! as they used to say at Mad Magazine).

If you're interested, get in touch with me in comments, and I'll hook you guys up. (Said friend lives in my Queens neighborhood of Forest Hills -- if you go out to see the instrument, let's do lunch when you're done!).

Meanwhile, as our president would put it, thank you for your attention to this matter.

Traditional PowerPop daily fare resumes on the morrow.

  1. i am not a guitarist, and in my living room i have four pianos and piano-like objects - the baldwin spinet i learned on seventy years ago, and electronic devices from roland, yamaha, and casio - the roland no longer works, but it holds up the orchids next to the window

i wonder about the conjunction of "beloved" and 'practically never used' in this description - sort of like 'only driven on sundays' - but if the playing was done by another, not the seller, both could be true - certainly it's a handsome instrument, albeit a bulky one

a relative of mine recently moved to a much smaller place - i tried to convince him that the 'slab keyboard' configuration than can be stood on its edge in a closet could be a viable option to keep playing music - he's quite good, much better than i - he has been unreceptive to the idea so far, probably still not ready to move one from the loss of his baby grand

  2. I should have said "practically new", not "practically never used."
