Songs I'd Forgotten Existed, Let Alone Loved (An Occasional Series): Special "Le Chanson Incroyable" Edition

Oh. My. God.

Seriously, I don't think I've listened to that under the headphones in at least four decades. And by the time the harmonies came in at the end, I was a goner once again.

I should add that when that first came out in 1970 (just before the public breakup of the Beatles) I remember thinking "that may be the most beautiful song Paul's ever written."

And hearing it now, after all the intervening years, I see no reason to revise my opinion.

  2. Such an amazing melody that it was done by instrumental greats Roger Williams and Chet Atkins.

  3. Spent many dorm room hours listening to this album.
I had an album done in a similar low fi, home studio approach - Emitt Rhodes, Beatlesque debut record

  4. I don't even feel worthy to offer any opinion on the enduring greatness of Mr. McCartney. But I will comment on his work ethic and commitment. By my count, he has produced new music of one kind or another (and yes, of variable quality) since 1963. Every single year without interruption. Maybe the occasional live album or greatest hits thing. But he has never retrenched and hid. He seems to have never stopped creating. It's a massive body of work at this point. And we all get to get surprised by the chestnuts we might have missed (or dismissed) in real time. We got to share the planet with an amazing group of rock artists. Be grateful, not snarky.

    Thanks Paul.

And McCartney is still a very high rotation record here as well.
