The author is Jennifer Keishin Armstrong (she's also just done a book on SEINFELD).

One of the interesting stories in it is about the theme song: when SONNY CURTIS played the song for the producers, they liked it and wanted to use it, but CURTIS insisted that if he they were going to use it, he had to sing it. Somebody (maybe Mary's business manager) also had ANDY WILLIAMS as a client and said they were going to offer it to him. CURTIS backed down a little and said basically, "OK. If you can get him, he can sing it, but otherwise I'm going to sing it." It was offered to WILLIAMS and he actually turned it down.

There's also a good story in the book about how they shot the opening sequence on the show, including that by-now classic throwing of the hat in the air by MTM.

Rest in peace, Ms. Moore.

J. Without them, I don't think we'd care much about her.

Also, Sonny Curtis wasn't one of Buddy Holly's Crickets. He joined the Crickets after Buddy had moved to New York City and dropped the group as his backing band in favor of Tommy Allsup, Waylon Jennings and Carl Bunch.

VR - I Fought the Law was all he needed to do.
