I always liked that about the Raiders.

HOM is one of those songs I've always thought should be longer -- it's too excellent to be that short. It's like "Talk of the Town" by the Pretenders -- they could have written 10 more verses and I'd love the song 10x more because of it.

I never found them to be that *deep* of a band, though. Some *great* songs (other than HOM): Just Like Me, Kicks, Hungry and... that's about it.

(There are a whole lot of too-similar sounding songs in the catalog, though: Steppin' Out, Louise, Ups and Downs that never got me much beyond those hit singles -- although I have a soft spot for "The Legend of Paul Revere"...)

And I think Don Fardon's version of "Indian Reservation" is so much better than the Raiders' version, so there.

Happy 70th to Mark Lindsay!Shrinerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12908213967283171538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8921382.post-2294688350794928212012-03-09T07:21:27.971-05:002012-03-09T07:21:27.971-05:00Their best song for sure; still kills me after all...Their best song for sure; still kills me after all these years.

BTW Lindsay was at the Brian Wilson show I saw at the Highline late last year; Brian introduced him from the stage, but I didn't actually lay eyes on him.steve simelshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13247393763004076992noreply@blogger.com
