So as to not sully the memory of Paul Jones' vocal (one of the greatest voices in pop history) I'll skip the Springsteen, thank-you.

The photo of him on the right looking like he's having a prostate exam has scared me enough already.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8921382.post-8644285909855795652011-08-30T19:49:11.907-04:002011-08-30T19:49:11.907-04:00A brilliant example of connecting the dots. What I wonder about the song (aside from why the Gene Pitney version is so awful), is how come it never became much of a hit for anyone who covered it. As I recall, the Manfred Man album "Pretty Flamingo" had a cute, Goldie Hawn-type blonde in pink stirrup pants on the cover - that alone must have sold a few copies.Fazenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8921382.post-79250620640125756162011-08-30T10:23:55.345-04:002011-08-30T10:23:55.345-04:00When I rip it, I'll send it to you. When I rip it, I'll send it to you.FD13NYChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14964671671960423199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8921382.post-66358321189432871362011-08-30T10:10:31.167-04:002011-08-30T10:10:31.167-04:00FD -- I'd love to hear it.FD -- I'd love to hear it.steve simelshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13247393763004076992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8921382.post-28249587720737918262011-08-30T09:45:30.294-04:002011-08-30T09:45:30.294-04:00Always sounded like a stripper's name to me;&g...Always sounded like a stripper's name to me;>edwardnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8921382.post-30798171160433306702011-08-30T09:38:49.695-04:002011-08-30T09:38:49.695-04:00The Everly Bros. did a very nice cover of the song...The Everly Bros. did a very nice cover of the song, (my fave). Even Rod Stewart managed to pull off a decent version.

Not crazy about the Springsteen you have here. Toooo long and too slow. But the Boss could do what he wants, I guess.

I was in a British Invasion tribute band called Tru Brit back in the early 2000's. We did a pretty good Live version. Come to think of it, I have to pull it out and make an mp3.FD13NYChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14964671671960423199noreply@blogger.com
