If memory serves, the Gilligan's theme song was written by show creator Sherwood whateverthefuckhislastname was.And I'm pretty sure the Wellingtons were studio guys...
Sherwood Schwartz did write the theme song but I took the post to be asking about the songs actually sung during that episode. Surely you remember the Honey Bees hit, "You Need Me". Mrs. Howell's vocal ws off the chain.

As to who wrote the songs, here's an interesting comment from TV.com:The instrumental on "You Need Us" must have been owned by CBS because I once caught an episode of Perry Mason where it was playing on the radio.And this episode was directed by Steve Binder, who later went on to direct Elvis' 1968 "comeback" special.
