Tom Petty: Mensch of the Year
Seriously -- what other major rock star would have even thought of doing this, let alone actually getting it done?
And the remake of "Lover of the Bayou" is better than the original.
I downloaded a live Mudcrutch boot from the 70s several months ago. It was OK, but this sounds a lot better. Did you get the album, Steve? If so, whadya think?
I haven't heard the whole album, but what I have sounds like a good to great early Heartbreakers record. Which is to say it's got more juice than anything the actual Heartbreakers have done in a while.
Wow. Just wow. I don't suppose this is the band he's touring with this summer ...
ReplyDeleteAnd it's up at iTunes.
He's doing a Mudcrutch tour as we speak. I think it's relatively brief, though, and then back for the big Heartbreakers caravan with Winwood.

ReplyDeleteI agree on the early Heartbreakers sound.
Tom sounds like Tom whomever he plays with.
Crap.
ReplyDeleteAnony was me.
Tom Petty is just plain cool. One of the great American contemporary artists.
