Oh. My. God.
You know, I'd always hoped I hallucinated this, but apparently not.
From 1987, it's....well, you'll see.
"Hey man, Is that Freedom Rock?"
"Yeah, man."
"Well, turn it up, man!"
Seriously -- YouTube really is the Library at Alexandria.
The actor with most of the lines is really good. I love how he shakes his head when talking. Really, some good acting, and most of the songs are great.
I am with the plumber, give me the vinyl!
Although, I was listening to and comparing some Beatles that I have ripped onto the computer with my eldest daughter. We were amazed that we have three different mixes of some of the songs off Magical Mystery Tour. There are the originals, these weird ones from Germany, and new ones from the 1 compilation.
I own one of these CDs and it's pretty damned good! The bass line in "Reach Out in the Darkness" is surprisingly funky...too bad most of the song is drivel...they should have just kept the bass riff going and dispensed with the platitudes...
I've always thought it would be fun to assemble a bunch of hack musicians into a group called The Original Artists. Have them bash out a bunch of covers and sell them as performed by ..... Probably end up in jail but it would be amusing.
Cheech & Chong -- The Lean Years.
ReplyDeleteGod help me, it didn't look like a bad collection of tunes....
Although what Deep Purple are doing in there thematically I have no idea.
ReplyDelete:-)
Steve,
ReplyDeleteSome things are better left to the mists of time... :o)
Hell, my hallucinations used to be way better than that!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how a lot of these count for "Freedom Rock," but this is great -- and the album does sound pretty good...
ReplyDeleteFor years after this ran, me and some friends of mine would do that opening exchange at the drop of a hat.

ReplyDeleteGreat collection (except for America ... I HATE that song) ... but the ad is a joke, right? Right????????
ReplyDeleteY'know those cheesy Time/Life CDs you always see advertised on late0night TV are actually really good... - bill buckner
ReplyDeleteI want the records!
