Happy Birthday: Ted Ansani
We here at PowerPop wish a very happy birthday to Ted Ansani, late of Material Issue.
I spoke with Ted in doing research for my book, and he's a terrific guy: warm and gracious and funny and smart. He's currently playing with the Chicago-area Legendary Rock Stars as Teddy Cougar. Check them out!
Said it before and I'll say it again -- I was far more affected by Jim Ellison's tragic death than I was by that of a certain grunge icon who was his contemporary.
Seen Ted twice in Chicago at the IPO doin' his TA Project thingy. The first time Mike Zelenko was there too (w/The Ladies and Gentlemen) and he and Ted got together to throw down "Diane" and "Valerie Loves Me". Great stuff...
Ah man, I always have had a soft spot for these guys, One of the great unspoken tragedies of rock.
