Drums Along the Mohawk
From this week's Muppet show: Living saint Dave Grohl and Animal finally face off...
...in the epic drum duel they were always destined to have.
Ssh, don't tell anyone, but The Muppets is my favorite new show of 2015. They got the characters exactly right, updated them just enough, and most episodes are laugh-out-loud funny.
@Gummo -- The updated Muppets has gotten a wide range of reviews, but the two episodes I've seen -- post overhaul and toned-down (and a bit less arch) are fun and contemporary, in a network TV sort of way, and a pleasure to watch. I like the new show, and I liked the old TV show. Sure, The Muppets are no Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries, but what network show is?
My idea for a better ending, although it might not have worked in the context of the show: After thrashing their sets thoroughly but not kicking everything over, the drummers stop and sit panting a moment. They look up at each other for one beat and gleefully shout, "Again, again!". Duet recommences, fade to black.

ReplyDeleteI love this!
ReplyDeleteAnd Gummo, thanks for the tip ---
Reminds me of the guitar duel betwixt Ralph Macchio and Steve Vai in the old movie "Crossroads". Ralphie plays the muppet.
