An excerpt from what appears to be a very cool documentary about Graham Nash and The Hollies and the late 60s.
If I haven't mentioned it, the original Hollies are pretty much one of my top five bands of all time. The Floor Models used to cover "Bus Stop," and really well, and I've always said that playing it in front of an audience was one of the greatest thrills of my adult life.
Tony Hicks is one of the most underrated guitarists in the genre.
ReplyDeleteABsolutely.
ReplyDeleteAnd Bobby Elliott is an underrated drummer!
ReplyDeleteYou better believe it.
ReplyDeleteAllan Clarke was a damn great vocalist!
ReplyDeleteIf you get a chance, see Graham's current solo show it wonderful, don't miss it!
Captain Al
I always loved “On A Carousel” where each of the three singers takes a verse, and then all three come in together to harmonize on the choruses. Their voices have a similarity, but if you listen, you can tell when it is Hicks, Clarke, or Nash.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, Bus Stop. Unarguably sublime. (As an old married guy, married to his first love, I love the lyrical narrative of the song too.)
Sorry, I meant “Carrie Anne”
