Saw a band open for another band (and I can't remember who they were now -- it was a long time ago), but they did a cover of this and said "It's as Canadian as...Molson Beer". That's stuck with me since then.
That was beautiful. Some amazing talents there. No idea how it was put together though. Thank you, Steve! And Robbie too of course. Read his autobiography recently: excellent, addictive read (no ghost/collaborator). Had me going back to the Band's records with new insight and appreciation.
Sorry, not a Robertson fan here. Paul Simon always wrote basically S/G style songs John Fogerty always wrote basically C/R style songs Paul McCartney always wrote basically Beatles style songs. Ray Davies always wrote basically Kinks style songs...
