The Next Time a Person Tells You Music is the Universal Language, Tell Them They're an Idiot
or Frankie Valli, Cap'n! My uncle was a visiting scholar at the University in Prague for a year and in the presents he brought back afterwards was an LP of a Czech rock band singing American hits phonetically. They did "Respect" in the Aretha Franklin arrangement, creditably enough until they got to the spelling part, which they obviously thought were more words they didn't understand.
I always wanted to hear Eddie Kendricks sing 16 Tons!
