And Speaking of That Lovin' Spoonful Tribute Show...
From early 2020 (just prior to the pandemic ruining our lives) please enjoy The Wild Honey Orchestra, with special guest Spoonful drummer Joe Butler, and an utterly gorgeous version of my favorite song from Hums of the Lovin'Spoonful.
"Full Measure."
Have I mentioned that one of the great regrets of my life is that I never got to see those guys back in their heyday?
The first time I heard Hums this song seemed like a real outlier in Sebastian's work, even moreso than Summer. It was like he had permission to stretch.

ReplyDeleteJoe has a bit of a vocal wobble on this -- hey, he's an old guy -- but still. Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThose first four Spoonful albums are GREAT!!!!!

Sebastian said at the concert that it was very important to the band that no two singles sounded similar.
