Tuesday's Cartoon Chortles

The Byrds one absolutely slays me, for obvious reasons. 😎

all excellent examplars of the cartoon chortle genre - pop music division - the paul simon one was a bit dark in more than one sense, but we all have dark sides - "both divine and demonic tendencies", as Lord Krishna said in the Gita - a warmhearted interest in the personal lives of people one is actually distant from - a way to put a positive spin on "celebrity gossip" - leads me to look for information suggesting that the song predates paul's acquaintance with second wife carrie fisher

the pearls before swine cartoon

[there was also a group by that name - a friend of mine was a fan of theirs and would play their lp's for me, long, long ago - Wikipedia says "Pearls Before Swine was an American folk rock band formed by Tom Rapp in 1965 in Eau Gallie, which is now part of Melbourne, Florida. They released six albums between 1967 and 1971, before Rapp launched a solo career. "]

reminds me of the anglican priest using that name on X, formerly twitter - @1goodtern - he is a mainstay of the covid-aware community - a recent thread of his - with charts of data and supportive reasoning - is on the theme of "If you're wondering what has happened to the world in the last six years, you shouldn't. When you let rip with a virus that can cause harm to the brain with every new repeat infection, it changes brains, and changes the world."

yes, this is a bit of a downer - but seeing what's going on can help one decide what to do next, if anything - enjoying humor along the way, as well as finding great new music, and enjoying great old music, and being moved by righteous indignation as sometimes happens these days, can all be part of a nutritious psychosocial cognitive-emotional diet [i really do have a ph.d., by the way]

Knowing Paul Simon he’s probably up to the mid-70’s with reasons by now.

Very funny! Speaking of Paul Simon...
Here "he" is, on "Family Guy", singing "Let My Peter Go"!

It's the "Scammed Yankees" episode, Season 14, Episode 12, which also has a good Brian story.

Every Paul Simon appearance, or mention, on Family Guy-
