You know, I really hate having to agree with Dave Marsh on anything, but I'm beginning to think that the MC5 probably were the most exciting American live act of the 60s.
That's an obscure Jerry Lee Lewis song, BTW -- and today's first clue to the theme of tomorrow's Listomania.
The footage of them doing "Looking At You" at this concert is pretty sweet too.

Trey -- no beef with Dave Marsh per se, I just find his Detroit chauvinism annoying from time to time. Plus he takes Madonna seriously, and he's never apologized for his sneering review of the first Springsteen album (oh, the irony).

ReplyDeletealso, don't remember what song it was (i'll take a look tonite), but during this same set wayne kramer does an aerial 360: he crouchs on the downbeat, then leaps up twisting, holding the guitar straight up and down high above his head, tucking his knees under, and then landing on his feet, facing the crowd...incredible. i must have seen that footage a dozen times before i could believe it.
