An Early Clue to the New Direction

From 1988, here's Tuvan throat singer Panglossian putz Bobby McFerrin and his reprehensible ode to the joys of homelessness "Don't Worry Be Happy."

God, I hate this song.

As always, though, a coveted PowerPop No-Prize will be awarded to the first reader who divines the clip's relevance to Friday's Weekend Listomania.

  3. Songs so bad they're not even fit for Muzak? Ah, I really have no clue.... but your Thurs. hint/Friday query has become a weekly event at our house, ie., "Honey, what's The Simels Question today?"

  4. Too bad for Muzak is a good guess, but alas no.

However, I am deeply flattered to have become a weekly event chez Emma.

  6. Panglossian is a wonderful word by the way! It sent me to the dictionary and I came back determined to use it myself.

  7. Indeed, one of the worst hits of the 80s, but no, not the theme.

I thought Panglossian putz was pretty good myself, BTW....

  9. Since the list is going up in half an hour, I'll give you the obvious hint --

It's about the style of music.
