  1. If "Picture Book" had appeared on Arthur instead of Village Green, it might have sounded more like this. Amazing what the guitar does for this tune, which was perfect to begin with.

    Awesome! Thanks for sharing it.

  2. I've never heard that before, and awesome is exactly the word.

    Wow.

Off to iTunes to see if that's downloadable.

  3. Thanks so much, KC. What a great performance. I'm ashamed to admit I'm not familiar with the group, let alone this cover.

Where should I start to get into this group?

  4. Dave,

YFFs have a ton of LPs, but you can start with the one that this song came off of "This One's For the Ladies." Another I dig is called "Electric Bird Digest." Finally, their latest is a double CD with one disc for the YFFs and one for the Minus 5, a YFF spin-off group called "Because We Hate You/Let the War Against Music Begin"

  5. Thanks for the posting. Re: best of YFF, I agree with the above recommendations, and add their first release "Fabulous Sounds of the Pacific Northwest."

From the a slightly out of date website, I find that "Scott McCaughey has been recording and touring with REM. He is also in Minus Five, The Squirrels, Tuatara, and a Nick Lowe cover band known as The Lowebeats". Having seen YFF, Minus Five and Squirrels, I enthusiastically recommend seeing any of Scott's bands whenever you get the chance. It might even be worth a special trip to Seattle.

  6. Love the YFF's, but I think that their magnum opus is 1987's The Men Who Loved Music. The CD appends an EP, and for a change, actually improves the package.
