Incidentally, of these guys history a casual Google search has turned up next to nothing other than that it was recorded in 1961. Nevertheless, to Hugh and all the Victors, wherever they are -- kudos, my friends. And rest secure on well-earned laurels.
I remember this one, probably from my childhood Dr. Demento phase. You know, other than for novelty's sake, I think I kinda like it!
ReplyDeleteI remember this song also when I was a kid, my older cousins used to play it. It was also an expression for a kid from the group or circle who was not liked or excepted. Children were a little cruel even back in the early 60's.

ReplyDeleteAs one of the Victors, the name taken from a pack of Viceroy cigs. Veni, Vidi, Vici (I came, I saw, I conqured)I sang vocal background. Yes,1961, at Nero Studios, 50 East Oak Street, Chicago Il. Those were fun, fun days.

ReplyDeleteHugh Barrett played with my husband, Glin Christopher and his band in Chicago at Shenks in the late fifties and early sixties. Hugh Barrett passed away in the late nineties. glad to see his memories on utube. Would like to know who the victors were.

I am currently in cahoots with Richard Mayor who sang back up and hopefully Brian Lee a doo wop dj who frequently plays Victors songs... check him out at colorradio.com.. god bless u all fr the enthusiasm of good ol rockabilly!!!
