Beat the Reaper

Aw shit.

Peter Bergman, founding member of The Firesign Theatre and all around cool guy, died of leukemia this morning. He was 72 years old.

Rock on, Nasi Goring. You big gorilla.

POSTSCRIPT: You can remember Peter in the memorial page at the Firesign Theatre website over here.

  1. My best friends big brother had all of their records and "The Big Book Of Plays". We memorized long stretches of "Nick Danger", "I Think We're All Bozo's On This Bus", and of course "Porgie and Mudhead".
I think "Boom Dot Bust" from 1999 is right up there.

  2. Phil Proctor spent a few hours at my house a long time ago. And it was "really great shit, Mrs. Preske!".

Crap. I listened to Temporarily Humboldt County so many times, I knew it by heart.

  9. Ouch. Those guys so rock. I still have all the records, but they are so chewed up from repeated listenings that they are worthless. A friend and I even taped the extra material they did on Shakespeare's birthday.

I did not understand them till I dropped. Then it mostly made sense.

    I already miss him.
