An Actual Sign of the End Times

Okay, I have no further reason to remain living.

By which I mean, I have found an illegal download link for the first two albums by early 70s soft-rock schmuck icons Batdorf and Rodney.

John Batdorf & Mark Rodney were signed by Ahmet Ertegun at Atlantic Records, the same day as The Rolling Stones, in the next room. Ahmet took a personal interest in the Batdorf & Rodney sound, and guided their career.

Download the albums Ahmet felt so strongly about here. If you dare.

And now -- I'm done.

Okay, I'm mostly kdding, but this really frightens me.

  2. I couldn't name you a single B&D song, but I have a vague memory that they made Seals & Crofts look macho.

  3. I went to Youtube and experienced 44 seconds of "One Day".
Much worse than The Gaslight Anthem.
Back in the day, amidst the classic albums by The Stones et al, was plenty of dreck like this. It's why Punk happened.

  4. Not a bad song really. Could've been shortened by at least 2 minutes. Too much intro. I haven't heard these guys in ages.

2/3 of America? That would be something like 200 million people!

  8. Yeah, yeah. And I'M still waiting for the two WILDERNESS ROAD albums to be released on CD. Unlike Batdorf and Rodney, the two ROAD albums were good.

  9. Damn! Here I spent good money that went to the artists when I could have waited and stolen it for free. ;) Agree to disagree, but yes, a lot of early '70s "soft rock" hasn't aged well. You guys probably hate Aztec Two-Step also, who are a much better comparison that CS&N...

BTW, Batdorf & Rodney's best song, and the one to judge them by (IMHO) would be "Home Again" from the 1st album.

I have an Aztec Douchebag story that I wasn't going to tell, but now I probably have to. Let's just say I briefly shared a stage with those twerps.

    Next week. Remind me.
