The Gentlest, Most Loveable Pussycat in the World...

...is still hanging in, against the odds. But here he is from a happier time.

That's Ollie being an absolute champ at the vet, in November of 2010, in preparation for the radiation therapy that gave him almost two extra years of a rich full life.

I should add that during the week he stayed at the clinic, he was live on a webcam for eight hours every day, and he became something of an internet video cult figure. I would get early morning e-mails from people all over the country saying "He's up! SHOWTIME!!!"

In any case, regular music posting by me won't resume around here until my heart starts to break a little less than it's breaking at the moment.

But I just want you guys to know that both Wendy and I really appreciate all the good thoughts you've been sending Ollie's way since last week.

I also want to let everyone know how much I appreciate the kind thoughts we've received. When he was around three, Ollie was rescued by a kind soul one day shy of being euthanized, and then was fostered until I adopted him. He has been my sweet, wonderful, loving little buddy for almost 13 years, two of which were a gift because of the thyroid radiation therapy Steve mentioned.

We will miss him.

So sorry to hear of this. Ollie will live on in your hearts. We do miss our little friends when they leave us but we are grateful for the time we were together.

Kind Regards

I am so sorry to hear this. I just recently lost my loveable SophieCat to cancer and each day still miss her. May your memories of Ollie be many and fond.

Although I'm by nature much more of a dog person than a cat person, my wife and I adopted a tuxedo cat from a shelter nearly 10 years ago.

There's not a day that goes by that he doesn't bring joy to us... and there's not a day that goes by that I don't think that there is somehow a tangible link that animals sense -- and when you give love to one animal, that love spreads out and is conveyed to all animals as well.

Sending you all lots of love and good thoughts for Ollie.

Very sorry Steve. Having a pet for such a limited time is a bitch. I had a beagle from 1964 to 1978. He was the best dog ever. Just got old, and then... My parents and I chose not to get another pet, some people do but we didn't. Not to go through that heartbreak ever again.

I think about him at times, quite often. Still can't listen to Me And You And A Dog Named Boo by Lobo till this day. Also Shannon by Henry Gross. It took me 6 months to a year to get over the shock.

But Chap new we loved him and took care of him for a long time. Just like you're doing with Ollie. He knows you love him. Chin up kid.

i lost my best friend about a year and a half ago. one day he was fine. the next he was not so fine. 3 days later he was gone. 11 years is not enough for 4 of the finest paws to ever tread god's green earth. needless to say i absolutely hate brain cancer.
you are not alone in your pain or your love. take care ollie.

Sorry for your loss, Steve. A couple of years ago we lost our 17 year old cat (to failing kidneys) that we had since she was a couple of weeks old. Her mother was hit by a car before she was weaned and I bottle-fed her for weeks - nose to tip of tail fit in my hand at first. Vet said - don't get too attached she won't make it, but she did. I still miss her.
