Where the hell was this when "Tom's Diner" was a hit?

  2. Another cure for this is to listen to Big Daddy (who are now available on iTunes!!). The original versions of songs like these will fly out of your head; then the only danger is that you'll crack up unexpectedly as their take on, say, Bette Davis Eyes pops into your skull. But you'll never be troubled by the original again!

  4. A song that won't get out of your head is another way of saying, "a good song". Most people, however, won't accept it when an artist or genre they feel is below their status or social grade comes up with a great hook, and instead of examining their biases, blames the imaginary phenomenon they call the "ear worm".

  5. I don't disagree in principle, Faze. Writing a hit song requires (usually) a tremendous level of craft. Otherwise, everybody could do it.

    That said....oy gevalt.:-)

  6. My sister Margaret recommends the Sesame Street theme song, but only through "the air is sweet." Ending on the 5 chord like that completely wipes your memory. Works for me....

  7. @buzzbaby: Big Daddy did the entire Sgt. Pepper album. I have it. It's quite listenable all the way through.
