Yes, this was actually released to a largely unbelieving world.
It's never been on an album or CD, however, so I think we can be excused for having overlooked this for all these years. In any case, it's a lot more idiosyncratic than, oh, Al Green's relatively faithful cover of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand."

ReplyDeleteI'm lucky to have a Hot 100 Billboard chart book. The number of singles James Brown released is insane. So I guess this can fall thru the cracks.
ReplyDeleteKnucklehead record collector that I am, I always grab covers of "Something" when I find them. The guitar solo is so much a part of the song I always like to hear how others employ it. A moot point in this case....

He did a similar take on "Georgia on my Mind" back in the day. Lots of percussive asides and little giggles. Very little sense that he knew where the hell he was. Not a great ballad singer.
