From 1966, please enjoy the fabulous Standells (featuring Larry Tamblyn -- brother of Russ and Uncle of Amber on organ and vocals) and their snarling garage punk revisionist take on the the legend of the Lone Ranger, "Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White."
As always, a coveted PowerPop No-Prize will be awarded the first reader savvy enough to glean its relevance to the theme of tomorrow's Holiday Weekend Listomania.

If it's not ok to wear white shoes after Labor Day, does that make Memorial Day the start of white shoes season? (Can't think of any songs about white shoes... would Nights in White Satin qualify?)
Songs with Red, White or Blue in the title?

dSmith, your Coveted PowerPop No-Prize© is winging itself in your general direction by Twenty Mule Team Borax as we speak!!!!!!!!
Apologies for the incredibly dated cultural reference.

Steve, not to quibble (OK, to quibble) imho, the version of this song by Count Bishops is vastly superior...vocalist Mike Bishop had a gravelly delivery that gives the song a much-need oomph infusion...great song regardless...
