Bruce and the E-Street Band doing "New York City Serenade" live in Rome Italy, earlier this year.
As you'll see...
...a crazy Italian fan had been following the band around from show to show with a huge banner asking for a performance of said "Serenade," and for this occasion, Bruce surprised the guy by hiring a string section and dedicating the song to him.
Like I said, words fail me.

Just wow.
What other rock star would have come up with such a gesture? Hell, what other rock star would have inspired it?
:-)
When did Paul Shaffer join the E street band? The new sax guy sounds real good too. There is nobody like Bruce. He's like the only one carrying the torch.
In the film Springsteen and I, he brings up on stage an Elvis impersonator to sing All Shook Up. Now that's cool! The Boss, at this point, could do what ever he wants.
Stunning. One of my very favorite Bruce tunes, ever. I read an article regarding the 40th anniversary of WIESS, and it mentioned that NYCS had only been played 8 times since 1975. I was fortunate to have seen one of those (9-30-99, United Center, Chicago). Thank you for posting this.
Not a big fan of Bruce. But man, that is GORGEOUS! You can see the smile on the string players face that they know it is good too.
Incredible. Fantastic!
Bruce is a helluva man. No, I can't think of another rock star that would do it. I can't think of another one that would care.
Bruce has never forgotten where he came from.
Holy shit, this is amazing!

Maybe someday I'll get to the point where I can watch something like this without getting teary eyed. Or maybe I never want to reach that point. Either way, thanks.
