And in keeping with the Florence Foster Jenkins theme, today I received info from Light In The Attic Records that The Shaggs' PHILOSOPHY OF THE WORLD is to be reissued. Yet again. From the EMailed press release: "The story of The Shaggs is larger than life. It includes a grandmother's prophecy, a driven father, three unassuming sisters, a cat named Foot-Foot, and perhaps the most polarizing album of all time."

Yeah, yeah. This album has seen more reissues than Planters has peanuts.

And while Paul Simon wrote in BOY IN THE BUBBLE that "every generation throws a hero up the pop charts," if you live long enough and pay attention you'll get to see the same outsider art (commerce, actually) promoted every decade or so.

A friend of PowerPop is supervising the reissue. God bless him.

You don't have to be a great singer to be a great singer. Patti Smith proves that. She is awesome when she feels it.
