From 1979, please enjoy The Pretenders and a rare early video demo of their cover of The Kinks' classic "Stop Your Sobbing."
You know, there are days I think that, pound for pound, Chrissie Hynde is the greatest woman in rock history. And the rest of that band were no slouches either.

I am always shocked by their first album. So aggressive and as if they knew exactly what they wanted to put on recording.
There's a great clip in the Slits documentary streaming on Prime, where all of the Slits are sitting on the floor around Hynde as she teaches them various guitar chords.
The late 70's and new wave, whatever you want to call it, was a great boon to women artists (just last week, I ran across both Carolyn Mas albums!), but Chrissie was definitely the top.
Never trust a woman if you can't see her eyes beneath her gorgeous bangs!!!
