Goodbye Wool Hat: Mike Nesmith 1942--2021

From his way ahead of its time 1972 album And the Hits Just Keep on Comin', please enjoy the late great Mike Nesmith (along with pedal steel ace Red Rhodes) and a brilliantly minimalist version of Mike's most famous song -- "Different Drum."

This death shit is really starting to bug the hell out of me, I'll tell you that for free.

Sad to hear of Nesmith's passing - he was a talented and versatile fellow. My condolences, Steve - I know you were a big fan.

His death is a real loss. He and Peter and Micky and Davy helped shaped pop music

When Mike famously confronted Don Kirschner, it was a brave artist defying the master of puppets.

Watch the blog tomorrow. A Nez tribute performance and a neat story to go with it.

I've been introducing people to Nesmith's solo work since High School (class of '75). He's truly under appreciated and I will keep introducing people to his work.

I put "Thanx For The Ride" on a mixtape CD just two weeks ago. Then I spent some time over the next few days listening to many of his other great songs. He left quite a lagacy!
