Girls! Girls! Girls!

From 2015, please enjoy outlaw country icon Ray Wylie Hubbard, along with the toothsome Carson McHone, and their quite amazing ode to a "Chick Singer Badass Rockin."

Reason I bring it up is because after I posted last Friday's essay question about sexism in rock, a Facebook friend of mine sent me the above (which I was previously unaware of) and suggested it might be relevant in some way to the discussion. To which I can only add "wow."

Hey -- "Joan Jett is a goddess"? I think we can all agree on that...😎

long long ago when the runaways were a thing my favorite was jackie fox - did they really make a personal appearance in buffalo when i lived there? i seem to recall this, but i'm not sure now

later i learned jacquieline fuchs had been at harvard law school at the same time as obama

later still i heard of how badly she had been treated on at least one occasion during her musician career

i am reminded of erving polster's book, which i was surprised to learn this morning is still in print 39 years after it was first published, 'every person's life is worth a novel':

Taking the novelist as an exemplar, Erving Polster models a new frame of mind for the psychotherapist one wherein he sees healing potential in the fact that people often marvel at the adventures of others but don't notice that their own lives are filled with drama. The author's theme may also provide insights for people who are not psychotherapists. Readers may realize that they live through experiences that, when rightly noticed, are as dramatic as the world of novels. Both the novelist and the therapist invite us to open the covers of our own lives to find the wonders inside. When we do, we move toward the satisfactions of a confirmed existence.

That song is an appropriately rockin’ tribute to all of the talented women of rock and roll.

Indeed, that was central to my point.

Ray Wylie is a treasure. His two Co-Starring records are a good starting point for the uninitiated. They are a lot of fun. But have to mention Carson. Check her out. She has three or so records out. I think you'd really dig her music (as much as her toothsomeness) "Hawks Don't Share" grabbed my attention.
