For Sal, Who Knows Why

Okay, I really love this one. Actually wrote it up in a 1973 or '74 column in Stereo Review (having heard it on a Bowie bootleg) expressing my pleasure and surprise that I actually liked something by the guy. 😎

Pretty sure I didn't know that it had ever been officially released, however.

In any event, if the rest of Ziggy Stardust had sounded as Eddie Cochran-ish and cool, I would have probably spent the rest of my career/life raving about how nuch I dug its auteur. 😎😎

I hate that Arnold Corns version.
(I kid!)

Off the top of my head, there are three life-changing musical moments for me, after a steady diet of Beatles, Beach Boys, etc.

The first time I saw Television live right when "Marquee Moon" was released.

My first trip to New Orleans.

And buying "Ziggy Stardust."

Did you happen to see that Ziggy tour? The show I saw was at Carnegie Hall.

6 days before the Carnegie Hall show, the tour started in Cleveland, where he broke huge. Tickets went in an instant so I couldn't get one. Got one later for the Diamond Dogs tour and said WTF was that?

No. First time seeing Bowie was 1976, "Thin White Duke" tour.
