Your Wednesday Moment of Words Fail Me

From his just released new album Downtime, please enjoy the incredibly great Nick Piunti -- doing business with his fabulous band The Complicated Men -- and the power pop work of genius that is "Upper Hand."

Seriously, I've written glowingly about Piunti on previous occasions, beginning in 2016, and as I said back then the guy is so good I hate him.

But this new song -- and the whole album, as well -- is sheer perfection; everything about it -- including the guitar solos -- is genre defining.

You can order the thing over at Amazon HERE or over at Nick's website HERE

And a coveted PowerPop No-Prize© will be awarded to the first reader who posits who Piunti's vocals remind me of, because for the life of me I can't put my finger on it.

  2. Definitely hear Bryan Adams. Don't hear Henley, though. Maybe a little Tommy Keene? Great song.

I went through the same thing a few years ago and came out the other end with Tommy Keene, as well.

I'll pass this along to Nick. He'll get a kick out of it. Wouldn't be surprised if he posts it on FB and Instagram.

And, man, are you right about this guy. Every single album is a gem.

  4. His phrasing and tone is very Mike Viola.

  5. If there still were a radio industry that included forward-leaning formats and I heard Upper Hand in my car while driving, I'd Shazam it while praying that the song's already in Shazam's database.

    Nice piece of work.

  7. Little Steven’s Underground Garage on SiriusXM has been playing this on heavy rotation the last few weeks; I think it was his coolest song in the world a couple of weeks ago too. Great tune!

  8. I don't remember the exact circumstances but I heard a couple of his songs (probably here) from what was then a new release a few years ago. I sent him fifty bucks just because. After a nice email exchange, he sent me his entire catalog. I shoulda sent him a hundred.
