"Here’s a song dedicated to a great world leader. I hope all of you like it. I know he will." — Randy Newman, October 12, 2016
This guy is an American treasure -- as some Brit said about Keith Moon, why haven't we nationalized him?
Incidentally, I didn't think Newman could ever surpass his "A Few Words in Defense of Our Country"...
...but I think he just did.

Maybe I'm getting old and Randy is singing in a frequency I can't hear, but that was sooo hard to follow. "A Few Words.." was much easier. Shall have to google the lyrics.
Anyways, I agree otherwise; let's nationalize Randy immediately before the Russians get him.
Maybe the wrong guy...Dylan, Nobel ? Randy Newman.
I do not know if he was ever awarded the Mark Twain award but if ever was a writer as introspective about American life ?
Just recently added a new copy of "Good Old Boy" to the collection.

I like me some Putin Girls. I don't care WHAT prize he gets, just give Newman a handful to choose from.
Randy Newman and Tom Waits.
What do you think of this idea for the opening a future Saturday Night Live ? : Alec Baldwin, dressed up as Donald Trump, sitting at a piano singing Randy's song "Political Science". He could even substitute "Mexico" for "Africa" as the part of the world that's "too hot". The irony is that the real Trump probably wouldn't see the humor in it, but I think it would be funny.

Best satirical song writing dude I've ever heard. One reason his satire is so good is it's like any Andy Griffith episode in that there is that undeniable kernel of truth and maybe even a lesson to learn too.
