From sometime circa the early 70s, please enjoy those wild and crazee guys Slade and their surprisingly authentic cover of the Grape's classic "Omaha."
I did not know this existed until yesterday, and to be honest it would never in a million years have occurred to me that Slade would have been Grape fans. Just shows to go you, I guess.
Incidentally, the song I'm putting up tomorrow is an even bigger mind boggler. In my humble opinion

Awesome revved up sound! 2 minutes and done. PowerPOP!!
Listed as one of the 100 greatest R/R songs by Rolling Stone...yeah !
A Power Pop cover at its best.
In 1967,staring down the draft and being an aspiring middle class hippie I was at the local Ben Franklin looking to buy a new album and there is a picture of a guy flipping the bird.
First I had the 45 of the Stones in drag taped to my bedroom door (Have You Seen Your Mother). Now this new band that I had never heard of...Moby Grape.
That album cover will shake up my folks ;-)
Saving ya'll a song by song, Omaha was a song that I could not hear enough of.
A classic song from one of the best rock debut albums of all time.

This Rocks! Slade was a darn good band. "Slade In Flame" is worth watching if you get a chance. It has an terrific opening sequence.
Hello Steve,
The Moby Grape Week is really well done. Good Job, my musical friend. The cover of ''Omaha'' by Slade is a real good Power Pop rocker. Jim Lea, the bassplayer had always a love for Power Pop music. His ''The Dummies'' side project played a damn good Power Pop style. Yeah i know it's Moby Grape week and not Slade week and i stop now here :-) . Hope everything is fine on your side, Steve. Keep up the good work here.
Best,
Frank
