Submitted For Your Approval

A pathetic failed rock star wannabe falls through a hole in the space/time continuum and finds himself in an alternate reality where The Beatles never existed.

Okay, I'll go see that, even if it is directed by Danny Boyle. (Have I mentioned that I absolutely loathe Trainspotting? Thank you.)

In any case, a fabulous premise. All that's missing is this guy.

While I've fantasized about writing songs as such, I never thought it would make much of a movie about same.

The opening is practically a Calvin Klein ad for smack.

Looks sweet. But like Bohemian Rhapsody, I'll wait until it's on HBO.

But the larger question of "What would have happened had there been no Beatles?" has inspired second- and third-rate conjecture for the past twenty years or more.

I've always felt it could have been a lot worse. Imagine another folk music revival like the one in the late 1950s that Martin Mull once referred to as "The Great Folk Music Scare?"

Now THAT's a frightening thought!
