I think we can agree that's quite fabulous, but since I love you all more than food, here's the original in a new stereo mix.
Well. That was pretty fabulous also, you're welcome very much.
BTW, the song was co-written by legendary Searchers drummer Chris Curtis and Petula Clark's auteur Tony Hatch. Both of which/whom are interesting stories I'll get to one of these days.
[h/t Jonathan Lea, who plays the cool 12-string on the Olson track]

That 2106 Searchers remix sounds like it is underwater. The 2003 Searchers Collection I have sounds better.
Oh - and they didn't write it. It was originally done by Jimmy Hughes.

But Chris Curtis says he learned the song from Big Dee Erwin.
I regret the error.😎
For reasons I don't get The Searchers we're never as big here as they were in the U.K.. Pity.
And Kapp was so successful with rock acts!
You can always tell when Steve likes a the band
The lead player always has a Rickenbacker

You may be on to something!
Captain Al
Hey -- it's no secret that I am on record as saying that an electric 12-string guitar, well played, is the most beautiful sound occurring in nature.
Even better for you when it's played on a Rick... .
rob. ; -)
didn't Carla Olson used to sing with Gene Clark?
The three volumes of Carla's Have Harmony Will Travel are all great. I would welcome a 4th and a 5th. Carla's a catalyst that makes interesting things happen. A great list of talent that she duets and plays with. Her taste is impeccable.
The Searchers version got heavy airplay in San Bernardino 1965. Released around the same time as the Jimmy Hughes version on Fame. Neither were the first. Robert Mosley, who co-wrote the tune did it in 1963. It was the B-side to Crazy 'Bout My Baby both sides of which got aired on KMEM Berdoo. The station that would sponsor the Rolling Stones 1st US concert six months later. A concert at which Keith Richards said that the kids knew all the songs. That's because Mr. Kicks had been playing the entire album since it
was released in England. The phones lit up.
A couple of days ago I watched this "live" version of the song on youtube circa 1973. Pender looking more adorable than ever. Did I mention that he sat in my lap?

I can feel a new expression on my face
I can feel a glowing sensation taking place
I can hear the guitars playing lovely tunes
