But seriously folks, I don't remember that one at all, which is probably a testament to a) the drugs I was taking at the time and of course b) the angry young punk attitude I was probably affecting at the same time. In any case, the cover is hilarious and perfect, and good on ex-Grand Funk frontman Farner for doing it. i had no idea he had a sense of humor
Of course, now I'm gonna have to investigate the music itself. Anybody know any of the songs from said record? I'm drawing a blank on that as well.
POSTSCRIPT: I should add that the way I discovered the Farner cover is that it's currently hanging on the wall at my local (Forest Hills) watering hole The Keuka Kafe, where the brilliant proprietors have decreed an all-food-and-wine-themed album cover decor.
Note the cover for a fictional LP by my garage band chums The Weasels...
...bottom right. I can't tell you much THAT cracks me up.
Heh.

That Farner album has a great cover. No idea about the music within.
One of my old haunts Village Music in Mill Valley CA (sadly closed since 2007, a favorite source for Elvis Costello, et al), had a section right near the entrance labeled: Sometimes the cover is enough. Many of those turned out to have great tunes, as well.

Dude -- that's pleasantly not bad. Not as good as the Hollies cover, but fun.
Thanks for the heads up!
The review comments on the Youtube link are pretty spot on.
Steve: what do you mean “fictional album” by the Weasels??? Vin Weasel is a real album! You’re on it, for goodness sakes!!
Are you still being an angry punk on drugs??
Now you are morally obligated to post a cut from it, as your penance.
Jai Guru Dave --
At the risk of being a nit picker I did say a "fictional LP."
I think you'll concede that there is no 12-inch vinyl version of VIN WEASEL, admirable a recorded artifact as it may be.
Vinyl is so last century.
I await the posting of a “Vin Weasel” cut.
Preferably one of mine.
Would the Butcher cover (Yesterday and Today) be in poor taste for that wall?
I think maybe this cover may have been a comment on having to start over after having been in an enormously successful band.
No Frills sucks. Not happening at all.
If you wanna check out GFR try the 2-LP Caught In the Act. They were a tight band and the song selection is pretty good. Go in with low expectations and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
