...and if you were somehow trapped in a sleazy karaoke bar and you were kinda drunk and wanted to sing along with a Rolling Stones song it would be...???
Discuss.
No arbitrary rules whatsoever, so just go for it. I should add, however, that today's post was inspired by accidentally discovering an instrumental-only track of one of -- IMHO -- the coolest Stones songs ever. Which I was planning, for the longest time, on going into the studio and overdubbing with a pathetic vocal by yours truly. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed. π
And which song woould that have been? See below.
Alrighty then -- what would YOUR choice(s) be?
And have a great weekend, everybody!!!

"You Got the Silver" is one of the most beautiful love songs ever created!!!
My karaoke embarrassment would be performing in public "Parachute Woman"!
Just because!

Technically, a Mick song, not a Stones song (though they did record it later): Memo From Turner.
"Sweet Virginia" or maybe just the spoken parts of "Far Away Eyes," unless I had someone to harmonize with, then all of "Far Away Eyes."
Depending on my mood/ impairment and the audience i might do As Tears Go By or Dead Flowers.

A sleazy karaoke bar, you say? "Star Star," of course.
Heh.π
I used to sing Time Waits For No One in a band. But I'd like to do Dead Flowers when I'm drunk at karaoke.
I used to sing Dead Flowers with my old hometown garage band the Weasels. Tons of fun.π
I was revisting Goats Head Soup yesterday
Their best drunk karaoke sing-along and who doesn't want to yell out the refrain in the song - Starfucker S...fer, S...fer
Star Star π»πΊπ₯π₯π
i'd like to go into a piano bar and play a George-Winston-esque solo instrumental version of You Gotta Move
Mr. Charlie: I love the idea of an instrumental piano bar" You Gotta Move"!

Whoops, missed Anon's post π₯΄
Since someone already called dibs on Dead Flowers, I'll take Tumblin' Dice
Here are some that are slightly off the beaten path but... 1) Connection (from BETWEEN THE BUTTONS) - terrific song, always thought it should have been a single, catchy, uptempo; 2) their early 80s output is somewhat underrated - I'd do She's So Cold or Let Me Go or Where The Boys Go from EMOTIONAL RESCUE, or Neighbours from TATTOO YOU.
"Stray Cat Blues" - kinda drunk, slurred vocal, and it will still sound good.
Steve don't know if you've heard but Townes Van Zant sings a great version of D/F's πͺ¦
Need a mix of karaoke and line dancing for that cowboy crowd - "Country Honk" π€
"It's Not Easy" from Aftermath - and my dream is to rewrite "Dead Flowers" as a song about ED called "Dead Trousers."
HAH!π
Pete:
You've been channeling too much news out of Washington DC!
:-)

E/D...? It's time for a testosterone shot - what's next your Perviten pill for energy ? π
I’d love to take a good hard run at “Memory Motel”. A very sweet and simple song.

Oh, I've done this very thing. 19th Nervous Breakdown.
Our very first gig in highschool at a dance -
One of our covers - Play With Fire
I think any slightly inebriated person could read the lyrics and not destroy it π
Factory Girl, because the song is about a half-step above my vocal range, but a couple bourbons would convince me otherwise.
If I was ever to get high enough to sing a Stones karaoke this is how I would begin -
"Years ago, 1975, browsing through a stores Tee shirt rack, you know those circular displays, I found a Stones "Tour of the Americas, 1975" shirt. It had the coolest design - a jet in the grasp of an eagle.
Anyway folks that shirt is lost to history.
However... I found that this $5 shirt today on the interweb and it can be had for a minimum of $500.
So raise a glass....here I go..."
"And this 'shirt' is Torn and Frayed
It's seen much better days
Just as long as the guitar plays
Let it steal your heart away"
I had that shirt too. π
And may I just add how disappointed I am that nobody saw fit to compliment me on how inspired our subtitle "Sing Along with Bitch" is?
Thank you. π
Dead Flowers fits into the Three Chords and the Truth category imo.
Dear Mr. Moderator,
Your post's subtitle is, indeed, inspired. There you go. As to the Stones number it would take a shot or two of Drambuie for me to publicly croon, I would select that delightful ditty "Jump on Top of Me, Baby."
