An Early Clue to the New Direction: Not!!!

No annoying mis-direction this week, as tomorrow brings the latest of our bi-weekly Cinema Listomanias.

However -- and forgive the shameless blogwhore -- but there's a very cool song to be heard over at the semi-official website of the fabulous Floor Models. And an amusing story. Or vignette.

Okay, an amusing paragraph, that's much as I'm prepared to claim.

In any case, I'd be deeply indebted if you could take a moment to head over there and give the tune a listen.

Note to self:

Transparently self-serving blogwhores about some noise you made 30 years ago less interesting to readers than deliberately obscure clues to list of Top Ten Zither Solos.

My favorite movie scene ever.

Simon Marshall: If you don't cooperate, you won't get to meet Susan.
George: And who's this Susan when she's at home?
Simon Marshall: Only Susan Canby, our resident teenager.
George: Oh! You mean that posh bird who gets everything wrong?
Simon Marshall: Excuse me?
George: Oh, yeah. The lads frequently sit around the telly and watch her for a giggle. One time, we actually sat down and wrote these letters saying how gear she was and all that rubbish.
Simon Marshall: She's a trendsetter. It's her profession.
George: She's a drag. A well known drag. We turn the sound down on her and say rude things.
Simon Marshall: [horrified] Get him out of here! He's knocking the program's image!
George: Have I said something amiss?
Simon Marshall: Get him out!
George: Sorry about the shirts!

The guy who played Simon was the original "Angry Young Man" of British theater.

Post punk Carter era quasi folk music apparently not the draw it once was... yet!

The Posh Birds would be a great name for a Beatles tribute group.

There's nothing like being lectured by a 20-year-old about our vacuous lives, especially when the 20-year-old is ourself.

The song is a good argument for raising the voting age.
