From 2012, please enjoy you-know-who's hell-spawn and an absolutely jaw-droppingly good (and essentially unplugged) version of Dolly Parton's classic "Jolene."
Talk about torpedoing your preconceptions -- it would never have occurred to me that anybody who grew up on the Mean Streets of The Mickey Mouse Club could actually have any talent. And in my defense, I actually once sat through a Hannah Montana movie in a local Hell Octaplex.
In any event, I take back every nasty thing I've ever said or thought about this kid. Damn, that's just freaking terrific.

Hello all...no, please remain seated,
Also, too...her cover of "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" from the Amnesty International Bob Dylan set was good. Really good.
I suspect she could have a pretty good alt-country career if she chose to. Blasphemy trigger warning....could she be nudged into being the Linda Ronstadt of the millennials?
regards,

Ehh. Even a broken microprocessor clock is right 120,000 times each second.
I actually have a soft spot for Miley in my cynical, middle-aged heart. I like the way she carries herself, she's a bit of a rebel and I think has a bit of sense of humor about herself. One of my favorite things from Saturday Night Live in the last couple of years was the filmed short in which she played Michelle Bachmann and Taran Killam played House Speaker John Boehner and they re-did her hit "We Can't Stop" as "We Did Stop (The Government)". It was genuinely funny.
I like her version of "Jolene" but I think it would be a little better if she could have slid her voice up a bit at the end of the song (on the final cry of "Jolene") the way Dolly does. If Miley can hit that note, she should have tried. Nonetheless, thanks for posting it.

My, that is pretty darn good.
