Going to see Paul Simon tonight (at the newly open for business Forest Hills Stadium) who, it occurs to me somewhat surprisingly, I have never seen in concert in all my years in showbiz.
It also occurs to me that the very first record I ever bought with my own lunch money, back in 1957, was this Everly Brothers-derived piece of teen dreck...
...by Paul and the other guy doing business as Tom and Jerry.
Man, I feel old today.

It looks like those guys were all about teen dreck.

That's how every teen looked in 1957.
Simon's latest "Wristband" is very nice. Love that acoustic bass.
Billy B's right on WRISTBAND. Nice night to be in Forest Hills, where sadly, there are neither forests nor hills.
Hope you enjoyed your show, Steve. He''s gettin' pretty old but it's not like he rocks out. As long as he can catch his breath it should be ok. Last time I saw him was in 1999 when he was co-billed with Dylan. They played the Bowl, Arrowhead Pond and the MGM Grand in Vegas. I went to all three and taped to DAT. Took my then 81 year old grandma with me to the Vegas show. I've had a condo out there since the snowbiz daze.
She thought Paul was a nice boy. We had third row seats. Some moron behind us asked my grandma if she was Dylan's mom. She wasn't too happy about that. Dylan was wearing a white belt which kept coming undone during the show. I dunno, his guitar must have been brushing up against it or something. He'd have a big white tongue sticking out the top of his pants and it was bugging him. But it kept coming undone. Guess you had to be there.
During that run, Paul also played a gig at the House of Blues. I went with my very beloved late uncle. Of course I taped it. Somebody's gotta do it.
Wasn't anything spontaneous about his shows. The band was well rehearsed to the point of flirting with blandness. But he does what he does. And I didn't expect much else. It's not like he's gonna get rough or dirty. Grandma approved.
VR - gotta fix us some huevos rancheros con chile verde
