Your Thursday Moment of Why Didn't I Think of That Gag First?

Heh.

Also hah.

Seriously, THOSE guys I'd go see.

And yes, it's been a busy week, real life wise, here at Casa Simels, but I promise -- actual non-filler posting will resume on the morrow. I thank you.

speaking of music and movement, this morning i came across the website of wendell hanna, daughter of somatics pioneer thomas hanna - she herself is a professor of music and author of the children's music studio - a reggio-inspired approach as well as a certified hanna somatic educator:

Seated Somatic Exercises with Music
How Do the Movements Work?

Somatic exercises engage the nervous system in an active learning process that consists of very slow, focused, conscious movements. Movements can be very slight, even imagined, and get excellent results.

What Music Selections are Best?

Music listened to between 15-25 years of age

Music from one’s own culture, family traditions, and/or community

Music from a particular spiritual tradition

Music in a preferred style

These exercises can be done sitting at a desk, driving a car, or for people who are not comfortable laying on the floor.

The music chosen for these videos was intended for our oldest population who listened to music of their youth in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.

i am, apparently, in this oldest population - the very few of the music selections i was not familiar with were those on the radio 1959-62, while i lived overseas - one was "gonzo", by james booker - another, "tuff" by ace cannon
