Look, everyone who knows Eli understands that he is a force of nature. With his intrepid sidekick Codename V, he relentlessly sifts through the detrious of the internets to find, well, the worst things ever. I'm talking here about things like He-Man cartoons of Four Non-Blonde songs, that sort of thing. Terrifying. Fascinating.
But even by Eli standards, this is dismaying.
Devo 2.0.
I'll be over here in a fetal position, sucking my thumb. Don't mind me.

New oxymoron: blog substance
So this is what it's like to watch a country descend into fascism.
Last time a government behaved this way, 50 million people died.
It's one thing to be a sheep and trot to the slaughter obliviously, but it's entirely another to be fully aware of what's happening, do nothing and go happily to your demise. The Philadelphia internet contingent seems fully aware but is intellectually paralyzed with fear when the limits of their ability to whine and to call the bought-and-paid-for politicians hits its limits. They put their faith in the wrong place, with those in power, instead of with the people. But that's their tendency, to look to power to protect them, instead of to the real power, those folks they would mock and avoid.
The internet is a fairly exclusive medium, whether people realize it or not. People with lattes and laptops are not the ones who need to be convinced of anything, the bourgeois has always been thus: exclusive and callow. That is as dangerous a trait set as being a Good German. In World War II, the belt buckle of every German soldier read, "Gott mit uns." God is with us. The issues facing this nation are ones of religion and class, which now hold equal rank in the context of collective madness and greed and power hunger and complacency. People with money don't need religion and people with religion don't need money, or so they think. The fault line is obvious; the vulnerabilities are clear. When religions are for sale, for example by Dobson and his ilk, people like King George and his demagogues can buy whole countries and do what they will. And they are.
And the joke is on us because all they need to do is put the dogs into the ring to get them to start fighting each other. Ordinary Americans are the dogs. Who are we going to go after? Effete web outrage like the kind that percolates over at sites like eschaton serves no purpose. At sites like eschaton, the theme is projecting by way of an extended blame game for the participants' personal failures to pay attention and do the right thing. The make themselves feel better by point fingers at the media, corporations, the power structure. Dubbing someone a "wanker of the day" is straight out of junior high school. Eschatonians will never develop the sanguine spirits needed to forcibly correct what's gone wrong in their dreamy version of America, which likely never actually existed.
So now I'm called a whiner by anonymous commentors when I speak truth to the Internet bourgeois. And then they ban me from the discussion for doing so, just like their oh-so-loathed opponents, whom they simultaneously loath and seek protection from, would do. Education is wasted on some people.
I did my part. I played by the rules. I coveted the Constitution and, on a few occasions, swore to defend and protect it. I became somewhat educated. I traveled to broaden my mind and heart. I voted against this path at every opportunity. I did my part.
So, tell me. Who are the real fascists here?
The dogs are fighting each other.
Welcome to Germany 1939.
Well, coming over here and insulting a blog which is explicitly nonpolitical is pretty pointless.
I watched the vid at, like 5am, and it totally freaked me out.. Never watch He Man vids immediately after waking up from a nightmare... I'll watch it again when my allergies calm down and I don't need to take Benedryl during the day..
I need a nap
:)
I'm actually really looking forward to this album! I counter-posted on the ol' blog, which is up and kicking again for now. This is actually part 1 of a series, followed sometime next year by the Go-go's.
