Oh Just Bite Me Already, It's Another Goddamn Early Clue to the New Direction

From 1966, here's the incomparable Monks and their years ahead of its time Blank Generation punk ode to relationship dysfunction "I Hate You."

As always, a coveted PowerPop No-Prize will be awarded to the first reader who twigs its relevance to the theme of tomorrow's Weekend Listomania.

The psychotic reaction & carburator dung list of protopunk songs?

And one other thing -- if it really is time for a new early clue, then that means an entire week has passed since I last blinked my eyes. Is that bad?

I am so bummed out, but anonymous -- and she knows who she is -- got it right out of the box.

Your first-time coveted PowerPop No-Prize is heading your way by mini Cooper as we speak, babe.

Okay -- what do we do now? Anybody want to play cards?
:-)

Is it bad form to begin lobbying for songs you should include, Steve?

Like the Pretenders' Thin Line Between Love and Hate?

Oops.

Actually, the theme of the listomania is love songs.

Of all stripes, but as Bette Midler used to say on some stupid radio station ad-- love songs, nothing but love songs!!!!

Say yes to love!!!!!

You mean like Donna Summer's Love to Love You Baby?

Ah, Donna....

Met her once. Tiny little thing.

Seriously -- like 5'2".

Very sexy, but you had to pick her up to say hello, as Randy said.

You probably didn't think i did, but i heard, you say that love is just a 4-letter word. Jack of hearts.
