Breaking News: This Woman Could Have Had Me If She'd Played Her Cards Right!

From 1965, please enjoy Brit r&b belter Billie Davis and a song I'll bet dollars to donuts that one Aimée Ann Duffy studied religiously -- "Whatcha Gonna Do?"

Davis, who apparently was a sort of less lucky version of Lulu or Cilla Black, was previously unknown to me, and to be honest, after discovering this clip the other day, I'm still not sure I'm ready to download her complete mid-60s ouevre (if you're so inclined, of course, there's a link over here).

That said, however (and those who know me well have probably already guessed this) but sweet Jeebus, was she ever my type.

Seriously -- wotta cutie!!!

Great. I never heard of her either, but I agree this is a great '60s clip. Perfect quality too.

I knew I recognized this from somewhere. It's from a rarely seen British Invasion movie called "Go Go Mania". Many British acts of the day, even The Beatles. It's only available on a bootleg DVD floating around, great quality (I have it). Wiki for more info. Superb stuff!

I have a terrible secret and I must confess. This is the only forum I feel safe in. Please forgive my going off-topic.

Tonight I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about. I watched Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" video.

And...

I liked it.

It's not stupid.

If this gal had emerged in the Lady GaGa era, we'd be seeing a lot more of her, if you know what I mean. I'm guessing that the reason she fell off the face of the earth is because, like SS, some well-to-do guy took one look at her, fell madly in love, and got her out of show business so fast it made her head spin. (The song does not auger well for the rest of her catalogue, - mash up of "Fever" and "This Train [don't carry no gamblers]".)

Actually, she's still around and still working. Google her website.

Oh, and Pete ---

ah yes... i see your temptation... a dash of barbara feldon and a dollop of barbara steele.

That hadn't occurred to me specifically, but you're absolutely right. She's like those two Barbara's run through a trash compactor together.

A very fetching trash compactor.

And I find her voice similar to, but less irritating than Duffy.

Obviously, Pete means this version of Bad Romance.

Seriously, if I see one more video of the aptly-named Lady Gaga being thrown around and tortured in some pseudo-S&M homage to Helmut Newton, I am going to puke.

That chick needs a shrink ... stat.

Billie Davis, otoh, is a cutie. I would have died for hair like that back in the day.

OK. I can see the attraction, but if I'm going to go with mid-60s British cuties, I'm going with Diana Rigg.

The Mockingbirds did a killer tune about Rigg: "Automatic Girl."

And I heard "Fever" so much in the song that it kind of threw me off. As did her teeth. Sorry.

Word verification: "xessa". Sounds like the newest, horrid, single-named chick singer.

This posting led me to Ewe Tube where I found she had a sort of nice version of Angel of the Morning, coincidentally by the composer of the recently cited Wild Thing.
