What I know: there are four videos from this record, recorded in one session, in New York, on a layover returning from recording Present tense in England. Not everyone had enough changes of clothes. They're on videotape. When the band asked for more money to make videos, Elektra--owned by the same company that owned MTV--told them it wasn't important, that MTV would never amount to anything. These were intended for European release only.
But damn, I love these.

Thanks for the linkage! I nabbed 'em off of the MTV 24 hour marathon on VH1C, and Y'tubed them when I couldn't find any Shoes vids up there. Nice story there about Elektra.

That's what I thought must have happened. They were all on that MTTV First Day, as I recall.
Shoes are working on a DVD, BTW, including all the videos (even really obscure ones, like "Feel the Way That I Do," and some live concert footage. Jeff Murphy tells me he'd like to be done by the end of the year, but he's written a book about the Present Tense sessions, with some long-forgotten photos, and his solo CD, Cantilever, is finally done and in post-production. But the DVD is definitely on the slate.
Okay, who's got the "Shoes on Ice" video? ;>
