Ah, yes -- it's the original Leather Bar Keebler Elf.
And a nice Jewish boy, to boot.
I think, on balance, this is my favorite T.Rex song.

Yep. That's a killer opening riff for sure. Methinks I'm more of a "The Groover" or "Telegram Sam" man.
Believe it or not, I had never heard the thing until it got used in a commercial a few years ago.
That riff is such a grabber....
I have a friend who is a T-REX fanatic, so I've been steeped in all things Bolan for a number of years. Have you heard the John's Children stuff like "Desdemona"?
KC --
Desdemona's on the Rhino Nuggets II box, right?
jitterbug love
cadillac
telegram sam
mambo sun
cat black(the wizard's hat)
and those are only the "favorite songs" I can think of off the top of my head, always have been a huge Bolan fan.
I guess I could have put T-Rex in as my band I have never heard. I mean, I heard Bang a Gong, but until this video, that was it.
Color me deprived.
But the slow turn he does for the camera in the last part of the reminds me a bit too much of some of the preening of Prince.

My favorite is "Planet Queen" with Flo & Eddie doing backing vocals.
