From 1968, please enjoy the incomparable Bonzo Dog Band and their hilarious paean to the glories of celebritydom in the fabulous business that we call Show -- "Look at Me I'm Wonderful."
As always, a coveted PowerPop No-Prize will be awarded to the first reader who gleans the clip's relevance to tomorrow's Weekend Listomania.
Oh, and BTW -- I would like to go on record here at last to say a hearty "Fuck you!" to the execrable Death Cab For Cutie for copping their name from one of the Bonzos best songs.

Butt-ugly album covers?
I came to Bonzo Dog late and am still howling over their records one by one as I get to know them. I love this one! Viv was just brilliant!

I actually saw the Bonzos live. Without question the most amazing show in rock history.
:-)
And no, not ugly album covers, although I may perhaps steal that one.
Hmm...apparently most of our regular commenters are down with The Virus Formerly known as Swine Flu this evening.
:-)
Songs about stardom?
Songs about vision?
Bands named for animals?
One of the guys from Death Cab just recently married Zooey Deschanel a few weeks ago in Seattle while I was up there showing some friends around town. Curiously, we spotted a wedding party down by Pike Place Market. Hmmm. So a double FU for stealing one of my girlfriends.
Okay, I'll bite. Songs that are boastful and/or self-referential?
Bands with people with great nicknames?
No, no, no, no and no.
Let's see what kind of hint....
Hmm...
What kind of person would sing such a song?
:-)
How about songs that mention the band's name in the song. Examples might be In a Big Country by Big Country or How Will The Wolf Survive by Los Lobos.
Uh....no.
:-)
OK I'll bite
Seems a bit limited but...
Songs by whoever Carly Simon was referring to in "You're So Vain"?
Ooh...that's not exactly close, but it's in the ballpark in an odd way.
Songs by bands that were produced by Beatles under alcohol-related pseudonyms? (Too narrow?)

Good guess, but no.
Okay, last clue...
The character of the singer in that song. How would you describe him?

From another era?
Songs where the persona of the singer is of someone who is conceited?
