You know, when people ask me what my all time favorite band is, I usually default to the Holy Trinity of the 60s -- Beatles/Byrds/Beach Boys.
But then I see something like this the other night on Jimmy Fallon's show....
...and I think -- maybe its The Replacements.
Seriously, that's everything rock-and-roll should be in one four minute package. Words otherwise fail me on how great it is.

Agree completely. And they've handled the whole reunion thing really well–just doing a festival gig every few months, and now a quickie on TV. And damn–Westy looks pretty good for an old dude! :)
For years, I openly spoke of the 'Mats as my all-time faves. Then I decided on Mott The Hoople, and I'm sticking with them.
It's a shame that Paul's solo career, which got off to a promising start, floundered so completely. He took DIY to a whole new, unlistenable level. And the last time I saw him live, he made the legendary sloppiness of the '80s Replacements seem like Trans-Siberian Orchestra (shudder). I left feeling like he owed me 20 bucks.
Having said that, yeah, this was brilliant and I'm kicking myself for not going to MN to see them.
Now THAT is a reunion, full of joy and power.

Yup. Loved it. If only they would hit somewhere in Michigan so I could go see them...
They're playing round the corner from my girlfriend Saturday night, and like a schmuck I didn't buy tickets.
Pretty rip-roaring for coming out of the gates cold. TV's rough. You got five minutes and everything has to fall into place. Nice job, but maybe a little more slick than I'm used to. New [sorta] players are very good.
Steve: re tix: Just go to the venue a few hours before the show. The best tickets drop at the last minute. The band releases their "guest" tix. I'm an experienced concert goer [175 to 200 a year]. 95% of the time tix near the front appear from nowhere just prior to showtime. Never buy from a rip-off agency.
I wasn't aware this tour was still ongoing. Saw them at Coachella in April for one of their shows. They were head and shoulders above most of the "talent" there.

Steve, Since you didn't buy tix, buy my Mats LP collection
instead! :=) You might have seen it posted on my
FB-Wall...5 mint albums.
