Your Thursday Moment of Words Fail Me: Special Back to Mono! Edition

From 2015 -- and what was clearly THE album of the year, if not of all time -- please enjoy The Sonics and their quite astounding assault on the often-covered (but never like this) "I Don't Need No Doctor."

I should note, at this juncture, that the fact that a bunch of geezers, who cut their first record in 1964, are still making music this uncompromising and ferocious is nothing short of miraculous.

Wow. Just wow.

Fully agree. This was on my personal best-of for 2015 as well. If a bunch of 70-year-old rockers can crank out an album with as much energy as this had, then there's hope for my sorry self as I get older, too...

Everybody needs lots of Vitamin F.

Totally fuckadelic version of this song. Saw 'em do a feverish version last May at the Belly Up as one of their encore numbers. These guys may need to snort Viagra to keep up with me, but you sure wouldn't know it from their fevered playing.

Great White once played a live version of this in my back yard out in the country. They were one of three bands at a 30 keg party I threw in the early 1980's. Very much along the lines of the Humble Pie version, but trimmed more tastefully. Quite good, actually, with little histrionics.

It's pretty tough to do a bad version of this great song. But John Mayer managed.

What does this have to do with the Lovin' Spoonful? Am I missing something?

The Spoonful thing is a long story.

I regret the error.
